Chesapeake Tempeh Cakes Remouladed by E-Dubble and PropaneLV
J-Fur is sort of like the female cooking version of the most interesting man in the world (a Dos Equis commercial if you’ve never seen it). She doesn’t always cook but when she does, it steals the show. One of her best meals came this summer when she cooked up a batch of Post Punk Kitchen’s Chesapeake Tempeh Cakes. She made them for a little gathering. I cooked a side of potatoes to go along with them and our pal brought a deep dish pizza. The Tempeh Cakes and remoulade stole the show (although the deep dish was sweet as well… my potatoes were a distant third on the tastiness scale).
These cakes remind me of fresh starts and taking out the old (think the Eels singing ‘I’m tired of the old shit, let the new shit begin’). That means they are perfect for the new album from e-dubble. The album, called Regret, is all about clean slates and putting the wisdom of hindsight to good use. You can pre-order it now at his new Edubforpresident website. While his new track, “Two Steps from Disaster,” isn’t on the album, it still gives us something new to check out while waiting for the real thing.
Also worthy of the longing one feels for Tempeh cakes (and Ryan Gosling) is the new PropaneLV track “Hey Girl.” It combines hip-hop beats with R&B and pop elements and lyrics of wanting something that you can’t have.

These were mighty tasty and I liked the REALLY spicy remoulade. I had a Wii hangover the next day too.
